Wild long tailed macaques in #Mauritius! These monkeys are very accustomed to humans because they spend a lot of time at a nearby Hindu temple where people worship, among other things, the Hindu monkey god Honomon, who they leave offerings for daily in the form of coconut, pineapple, mango, banana … the wild monkeys steal the offerings, but also end up being fed by a lot of tourists. Generations of this have taught them to run right up to people near the temple expecting food, which they’ll take from your hand (bag included if you’re not careful) … these guys were just hanging out in an empty parking lot down the road from the temple. They’re amazing creatures.
