While Man City and Liverpool were securing their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League, Manchester United players were out on the town.

Manchester City advanced after a tense and chaotic goalless draw with Atletico Madrid to move to the next round with a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Liverpool meanwhile drew 3-3 with Benfica on the night but reached the last-four thanks to their 3-1 victory in Portugal last week.

It could have been Manchester United in Atletico Madrid’s place – if they hadn’t of crashed out of the Round of 16.

While their rivals were moving one step away from the final in Paris, United players were enjoying themselves on their night off to celebrate Eric Bailly’s 28th birthday.

Among the players out included the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani.

They visited the ZOUK Tea Bar and Grill in Manchester which offers Pakistani and Indian authentic cuisine.

Bailly turned up for his big night wearing a smart shirt and jeans and seemed to be enjoying himself as he was pictured smiling outside of the venue while speaking to a group of people.

The Frenchman was the last player to leave the venue at around 11.30pm and a group of teenagers sang ‘happy birthday’ to him as he left the restaurant.

Fernandes walked into the venue alongside Cavani who has been out of action in recent games with a calf injury.

Spaniard Juan Mata was also seen walking in front of them, while Lingard, Jadon Sancho and Aaran Wan-Bissaka were pictured arriving as a group.

Rashford and Pogba meanwhile arrived in designer hoodies, as they joined the celebrations for their team-mate’s birthday.

There were a number of notable absentees who were not pictured however, including the club’s biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Captain Harry Maguire and goalkeeper David De Gea were also not seen heading towards the restaurant.

Manchester United have suffered a miserable season on and off the pitch.

While their two biggest rivals are eying up a treble, in the case of Manchester City, and a potential quadruple for Liverpool – United will finish the season trophyless.

It’s not even certain whether they will obtain Champions League qualification for the next campaign with the Red Devils currently languishing in seventh place – six points off Tottenham who occupy fourth.

United are coming off the back of the miserable 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park and things could get worse with big away games coming up against Liverpool and Arsenal next week.

There have been reports throughout the season of rifts between the camp, cliques in the dressing room and players who are not happy at the club.

Fans will be keen for the season to end and hope that a new permanent manager can turn things around going into next season.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is said to have verbally agreed the framework of a deal from United who have presented him with a three-year contract including the option for a fourth.
