Alves prefer Mbappe over Haaland, and says he would be a huge capture for any team
Mbappe and Haaland are destined to lead the next decade of superstars, with both expected to be on the move at the end of the current campaign.
Real Madrid continued to be linked with a move for Mbappe, whilst Manchester City are running the rule over Haaland, with Barcelona unlikely to complete a deal for either due to their financial situation.
‘I wouldn’t go all out for Haaland. Honestly, I wouldn’t spend a lot of money on him,’ Alves said in interviews he gave to Sport and Mundo Deportivo.
‘On Mbappe yes, but not on Haaland. I’m playing sporting director, eh, but I’d go for Mbappe first, I think he’s more complete in every aspect.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, 23, has been lauded by the Brazilian as one of the best
‘If you’re going to make a huge investment, you have to make it in the best. If it was up to me, I’d go for. He’s the best there is, and for Barcelona’s style, at the moment, in football, there is no-one better than him.’
Alves also named the players he believes are currently the best in the business in his own position at right-back, something the Brazilian was often recognised as in his first spell at the club.
‘I like Liverpool’s [Trent] Alexander-Arnold a lot, I also like [Achraf] Hakimi a lot, but I like what he does,’ he said.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi is also high on Alves’ top right-back list
‘There is one at Flamengo, he is young, I like the way he plays and how he understands the game.’
Alves is likely to start for Barca when they take on Levante in LaLiga this weekend, given he was unable to feature in the Europa League in mid-week against Eintracht Frankfurt, having not been registered for the competition.
He has made 10 appearances across all competitions under former team-mate Xavi, scoring once in a victory against Atletico Madrid to go with three assists.
