The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has announced that previously approved Thailand Pass Test&Go passengers can still enter the Kingdom after the set deadline of January 15.
Bangkok Post quoted CCSA assistant spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangson saying, “previously approved travellers can still arrive after the Jan 15 (this Saturday) deadline. The CCSA at its next meeting will consider additional measures.”
The report added that the officials were monitoring the arrival of these tourists, as well as those who came in the Sandbox entry programme to ensure that infections will not overload the local health system.
Thai officials had previously assured travellers that their previously approved applications would be honoured, but now there appears to be a time limit on their approvals with no possibility to shift the departure date ahead.
As a precautionary measure, the Department of Disease Control is considering raising the area’s status from yellow to orange, which is the most contagious point.
This month’s Test&Go has already been closed to new applicants, and there’s no hint that it will reopen any time soon.
It’s a new day, a new task. The only difference is that a new date has been set with a little more leeway. Some type of clarity and policy should be established for travellers so that at least they know what they’re dealing with.
