B2B hospitality company Hotelbeds has taken a stance in the ongoing crisis in Eastern Europe. “As the situation in Ukraine continues to evolve, it is clear that the region is facing an extremely difficult and challenging crisis,” Carlos Muñoz said.
In a letter sent to their partners signed by Hotelbeds’ chief commercial officer Carlos Muñoz, the company informed that it will terminate business in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine as conflict escalates.
“To provide clarity and clear guidance on our position, in light of the safety situation in Ukraine, and as a result of the economic sanctions being imposed on Russia and Belarus, we have today made the following decisions, which will take effect immediately:
- We will cease operating to Russia, Belarus and Ukraine as destinations.
- We will stop selling to Russia and Belarus as source markets.
We will also cancel all future bookings in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine destinations and apply a Force Majeure policy starting with arrivals from March 12th 2022 for an initial period of three months and will waive all cancellations fees, including those for NRF bookings.”
Hotelbeds also expressed its support to its employees, partners and clients impacted by the circumstances. Moreover, the company is contributing to the humanitarian efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Hotelbeds is the latest company that joined the growing list of corporations that are excluding or terminating their businesses in Russia. In the travel industry, a number of cruise lines and tour operators have cancelled itineraries in Russia. Also, Delta Airlines have suspended its codeshare agreement with Russian flag carrier Aeroflot.
