GIS – 30 April, 2019: Mauritius will host in June/July 2019, a Mauritius-Korea Business Forum which will gather a large number of Korean enterprises, promotion agencies and the Exim Bank, amongst others.  The forum will act as a platform to outline the various opportunities present in both countries as well as to facilitate an exchange of ideas and information between local businesses, and other organisations and to promote a greater understanding of each country’s local economy.

This statement was made by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Mr Lim Sang-Woo, following a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

The Korean Ambassador stated that discussions with the Prime Minister focused mainly on the reinforcement of bilateral ties between Mauritius and Korea.  In that context, he said, a Cultural Week spanning over one to two weeks in October this year will be organised in Mauritius. The objective, he highlighted, is to further familiarise the Mauritian population with the Korean culture. The Cultural Week will comprise dances and ‘Taekwondo’ which is a Korean martial art.  A film festival is also on the agenda, he indicated.
