Sergio Reguilon endures a HORRID first half for Tottenham against Aston Villa

Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon had a 45 minutes to forget on Wednesday night after he played a major role in both of Aston Villa‘s first-half goals in their Premier League encounter.

Steven Bergwijn fired Spurs in front but were pegged back by two Villa goals before half-time, both of which were Reguilon’s fault.

The left back first produced an outrageous sliced clearance from 15 yards that left Spurs stopper Hugo Lloris helpless before then seeing his clearance fall straight to Ollie Watkins who scored a second for the visitors.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Micah Richards could contain his laughter and described the own goal as ‘comical’.

The former Manchester City defender said: ‘It’s unexplainable at times, to be honest. 

‘Reguilon has gone with his wrong foot. What a finish that is. That’s definitely up there with the best. It’s comical to say the least.

‘He’s a good player but he’s just having one of those days.

‘We’ve all been there, when you have one of those halves. Look at that. I’ve never scored one as bad as that.’

Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp was not quite so forgiving though and slammed the Spaniard for his role in Villa’s second goal. 

He added: ‘It’s poor technique, he’s falling over on his wrong foot.

‘The second goal as well, this is a poor piece of play. His head is in a tumble dryer by this point.

‘He doesn’t know what he’s doing. Do not play it inside and get caught again.’
