David Beckham will become the first player in history to receive a statue in MLS history when it is unveiled next month.

LA Galaxy are set to honour the former England captain outside the club’s stadium for his service to their side. 

Beckham played for Galaxy for six years after moving from Real Madrid in 2007.

The statue will be unveiled at Dignity Health Sports Park before Galaxy’s first match of the season against Chicago Fire on March 2. 

The former Manchester United star won back-to-back MLS Cups in 2011 and 2012 during his time in the USA.

Beckham is now the co-owner of MLS expansion club Inter Miami which will join the American league in 2020.

The former Madrid star is also a part-owner of non-league club Salford City with his former United team-mates, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville and Ryan Giggs.
