Daniel Dubois teams up with Shane McGuigan as he splits with trainer Mark Tibbs without him being in the corner for a SINGLE fight just months after appointing him

Daniel Dubois has split with trainer Mark Tibbs and is now working with Shane McGuigan, Sportsmail can reveal.

The heavyweight contender only appointed Tibbs as his head trainer back in February and was yet to have a single fight under his tutelage.

However, Sportsmail has been told that Dubois and Tibbs – who was in Billy Joe Saunders’ corner for his defeat against Canelo Alvarez last weekend – have parted company.

The split is understood to have come about after Tibbs informed Dubois’ team that he had too many other commitments.

Dubois, who is bidding to get his career back on track after having surgery on his broken eye socket from the stoppage defeat to Joe Joyce last year, has wasted no time in finding a successor and has teamed up with the well-respected McGuigan.

The 23-year-old will have just four weeks of preparation time with his new trainer before he makes his anticipated comeback against seasoned heavyweight Bogan Dinu on June 5.

Dubois joins a talented crop of fighters at McGuigan’s London gym, with Luke Campbell and new WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie becoming his new stablemates.

McGuigan, who has previously guided George Groves and Josh Taylor to world titles, becomes Dubois’ third trainer in just a matter of months.

As revealed by Sportsmail earlier this year, Dubois opted to remove Martin Bowers following the first professional loss of his career against Joyce and replaced him with Tibbs.
