However, Alioski could be on his way out of Elland Road as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Tagliafico has earned a reputation as one of Dutch football’s toughest defenders, the 28-year-old has amassed an incredible 41 yellow cards and two reds in little over three years for club and country.

‘I am the kind of player who can show his skills, like I do at Ajax where everyone knows how to play football,’ Tagliafico is quoted as saying by The Mirror, when asked about his characteristics as a player.

‘But I am also the kind of man who has learnt other strategies when I grew up in Argentina, which I need to use when it is not possible to win with skills and good football.

‘What people think about me as a player does not bother me.

‘What I find amusing is that the thing I hear most is that everyone always says that they would love to have a type of player like me in their team.’

The Argentina international joined Ajax from Independiente in 2018, and is set to play against Vitesse Arnhem in the KNVB Cup final on Sunday.

Tagliafico who has previously been linked with both Manchester City and Leicester,  signed a contract extension last summer keeping him at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2023.

However, it is believed there is an informal agreement that he can leave should a suitable offer arrive.
