Man City players ‘believe Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho WILL leave’ this summer… with Pep Guardiola waiting until the end of the season to sort out futures of the two title winners

Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City this summer in the eyes of their Manchester City team-mates, according to a new report.

Both players find themselves out of contract this summer and with a matter of months until expiry, the Athletic report that City’s squad believe Aguero and Fernandinho, two pillars of their title-winning sides in recent years, will go.

Fernandinho, who turns 36 in May reportedly has several offers on the table should he leave City. Aguero has seen his season wrecked by injury but he is also thought to be a man in demand.

A return to Atletico Paranaense for Fernandinho, his first club back in Brazil, has been mooted as one option to see out his later years in the game.

His influence on the pitch has diluted. He is City’s 17th-most used player this season but as captain, off the pitch his impact has been huge.

Away from the public gaze, City have relied upon him like never before and as such it would be no surprise to see them fight to keep him.

‘I’ve been focused on Man City,’ Fernandinho told TNT Sports last month. ‘I know how much my team-mates need me.

‘I made a decision to only decide my future when the season is over. I already had an offer, not to be part of Pep’s staff, but to be an employee of the club.

‘I was flattered, after eight years at Man City and the respect I have gained here, but it is a decision that I put aside.’

For Aguero, clubs such as Barcelona and Inter Milan continue to monitor his situation.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed earlier this month that Aguero fears his City career is being allowed to fizzle out.

Aguero, the greatest scorer in City’s history and the man whose goal delivered the club’s breakthrough Premier League triumph in 2012,  is frustrated by a lack of clarity around his future.

The Argentine has had outstanding achievements in the past decade, scoring 254 goals since his £35million move from Atletico Madrid.

City manager Pep Guardiola previously said he could not think about making decisions on new contracts for either Aguero or Fernandinho as he does not want to become ‘distracted’ while he is trying to win four trophies.

A famous quadruple bid remains possible with City in the Carabao Cup final, semi-finals of the FA Cup, quarter-finals of the Champions League, and comfortably top of the Premier League.
