Football fans couldn’t believe their eyes as Real Betis midfielder Joaquin scored a goal directly from a corner kick during Thursday’s 2-2 draw with Valencia.
Betis were already a goal up when the 37-year-old whipped in a powerful in-swinger that caught goalkeeper Domenech Jaume off guard at his near post.
The stopper was just a fraction too late in his save and the ball had clearly crossed the line, VAR making the confirmation to send Los Verdiblancos two goals up.

Joaquin, a former Valencia player, could clearly tell it was a goal straight away, immediately gesturing to the referee before wheeling away in celebration.
And supporters watching didn’t hesitate to hail the unique strike, taking to social media to express their amazement.
‘Joaquin has just scored straight from a corner hahaha,’ wrote one while another described the veteran winger as an ‘absolute legend’.
Unfortunately for Joaquin, the game would end in disappointment, Valencia scoring twice in the final 20 minutes to share the spoils.
