Republic of Mauritius- Indian delegation from Indian Chamber of Commerce meets Prime Minister

GIS – 12 April, 2019: The High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mr Tanmaya Lal, accompanied by an Indian delegation from the Indian Chamber of Commerce from Kolkata, paid, today, a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building, in Port-Louis.

In his statement, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sumantrana Management Consultants LLP, Mr Roopen Roy, who is part of the delegation highlighted that discussions with the Prime Minister focused mostly on fostering collaboration between India and Mauritius. Mauritius, he underlined, is poised to become the gateway for Indian investors to do business in African countries given that the country has a strong cultural link with India as well as favourable conditions for doing business.

 

India, Mr Roy mentioned, wants to invest and create sustainable business partnerships and alliances with Mauritius in several fields namely: innovation and technology, business start-ups, manufacturing, wellness, and education.

 

Also present, the Coordinator for the Honorary Consul, Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Mauritius in Kolkata, Mr KapilKaul, underlined that the issue of direct flights from Mauritius to Kolkata was also discussed with the Mauritian Prime Minister.
