He could bring Sam Allardyce in on a temporary basis’: Richard Keys suggests Pep Guardiola should HIRE the former England manager to sort Manchester City’s disjointed defence after dropping more points to Leeds

Pep Guardiola should take the drastic action of bringing in veteran Premier League boss Sam Allardyce to sort his leaking defence, according to Richard Keys.

The beINsports pundit made the bizarre suggestion following Manchester City‘s 1-1 draw against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United.

Alongside his co-host Andy Gray, the two men debated among themselves the situation City currently find themselves in, prompting Keys to come out with the controversial idea.

‘It can’t be that hard, he can go and watch Roy Hodgson work or he could bring Sam Allardyce in on a temporary basis,’ he said.

‘Any of these guys have shaped teams defensively haven’t they?’

City have now dropped five points from their opening three Premier League games, and now sit five behind Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who face Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

City’s plight is made much worse by the fact Guardiola has once again spent lavishly on his defence this summer in order to tighten the ranks.

Nathan Ake was acquired from Bournemouth for £40million, while Ruben Dias arrived from Benfica in a deal totaling an eye-watering £64m.

During his time at the Etihad to date, Guardiola has currently spent £421m on defenders yet still appears to be searching for answers.

City return to action following the international break, when Guardiola will come up against his former understudy Mikel Arteta.

Arteta’s Arsenal defeated City in last season’s FA semi-final, before going on to lift the trophy at Wembley.

The Gunners have won two games from three so far this season, and are yet to be defeated.
