Middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez has released an impressive video on Instagram of him working the pads with coach Eddy Reynoso.

The Mexican is back in training ahead of his fight with Daniel Jacobs, who currently holds the IBF title.

Alvarez will face Jacobs in Las Vegas on May 4 looking to unify the middleweight division.

In the video, Alvarez can be seen hitting the pads at stunning speed in multicoloured shorts and a sweat suit jacket.

Promoters announced Wednesday that Alvarez, the Mexican star who beat Gennady Golovkin in September, will fight Jacobs in a scheduled 12-round fight at the T-Mobile Arena to unify most of the major middleweight titles.

The fight will be aired on the streaming service DAZN, which recently signed Alvarez to a long-term deal.

Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 knockouts) is returning to the middleweight division after stepping up in weight Dec 15 to stop Rocky Fielding in a 168-pound title bout.

He traditionally fights in Las Vegas over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, and this will be his fifth fight in the Strip arena that is home to the Golden Knights hockey team.

Jacobs, who lost a narrow decision to Golovkin in 2017, has won all three of his fights since, including a split decision in October over Sergiy Derevyanchenko for a vacant piece of the 160-pound title. Jacobs, who lives in Brooklyn, is 35-2 with 29 knockouts.
