In his address, Minister Bholah highlighted that the tutorial, relating to marketing, digital communication and bookkeeping, among others, aim at offering more guidance to local entrepreneurs so that the latter can steer their businesses in the right direction. He also urged more SMEs, of which the majority currently form part of the informal sector, to register themselves with SME Mauritius Ltd so as to avail of facilities to help them grow faster.

Speaking about the sub-offices of SME Mauritius Ltd, located at Bel Air, Rose Belle, Coromandel, Goodlands, and Rodrigues, Minister Bholah underscored that each of them offer counselling and training facilities to entrepreneurs.  The training room at the Goodlands centre, he emphasised, can accommodate up to 50 participants, while working spaces and a meeting room are also at the disposal of entrepreneurs.

The Minister further dwelt on the numerous schemes offered by SME Mauritius Ltd.  He likewise encouraged young persons to join the entrepreneurial community, which has a key role to play in the socioeconomic development of Mauritius.

For his part, Minister Teeluck commended SME Mauritius Ltd for the laudable work being achieved in guiding and accompanying local entrepreneurs in their business ventures. The economy, he further observed, must reinvent and adapt itself given that changes at the global level are manifold. This overhaul process, according to him, mainly involves the creation of more SMEs, which play an important role in the country’s economy, while at the same time creating additional employment.
