Haaland remains on United’s radar but the 20-year-old, who scored an astonishing 16 goals in 18 games for Dortmund last season, has pledged his future to the club.

Speaking to Bild, he said: ‘I have a long-term contract here until 2024. In any case, it is my big goal to win BVB the title and to celebrate fantastic successes with our fans.

‘We have the quality to become champions but talking alone is not enough. Bayern have distinguished themselves by their incredible consistency.’

Dortmund had to settle for a second-placed finish after Bayern finished the season strong to win their eighth successive title.

As well as United, Real Madrid were also keen on acquiring Haaland’s services but the striker appears to be staying put this summer.

Dortmund are however expected to face a tough battle to keep hold of England star Sancho.

The winger is being targeted by United, who as things stand are at odds with Dortmund’s £110million valuation of the player.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Sancho his No 1 priority this summer but there are fears that there plans to land him may be ruined by their fierce rivals Liverpool.

According to reports, Sancho’s preference could be to sign for Liverpool because of their greater title prospects.

United have been given a deadline of 13 days if they want to complete a sensational £110m deal for Sancho.
