Liverpool‘s long and painful wait to get their hands on the Premier League trophy will finally be over tonight when captain Jordan Henderson raises the coveted prize to the sky at Anfield.
But the momentous evening will be like no other seen in the English top flight before with the occasion taking place without fans due to the restrictions in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side will lift the trophy in a unique ceremony on The Kop following their clash with Chelsea.
Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish will present the trophy to skipper Henderson, who is currently sidelined through injury but is set to wear his full kit. Dalglish will be joined at the ceremony — during which medals will be presented to Klopp’s squad — by Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive.
Usual trophy presentations tend to take place on the pitch in full view of thousands of supporters in the stands and players can share the moment with their families.
Liverpool stars have reportedly been granted special permission by the Premier League to have families attend their trophy lift but local authorities have issued a warning to anyone thinking of heading to Anfield to celebrate.
A glimpse of what’s in store emerged on social media on Tuesday with a glitzy light show planned as the Premier League winners attempt to make up for the lack of atmosphere.
Here, Sportsmail has gone back through the archives to find Liverpool’s previous iconic title celebrations ahead of their 19th domestic crown.
