GIS – 10 July 2020: The names of the first three sponsors of the Horizon Paris 2024 Project, were revealed, yesterday, during a signing ceremony held at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.  The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Stephan Toussaint and other high officials in the sports field, were present.

The sponsors are: RM Club Mauritius, a Premium Multisport Center which proposes, amongst others, foot indoor, padle, and squash sports activities; Necker Gestion Privée, a management company regulated by the Financial Services Commission and established in Mauritius since 2014; and MuscleTech, an American-based company which specialises in nutrition supplement.

Horizon Paris 2024, is a preparation programme put in place by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Trust Fund for Excellence in Sports (TFES).  The aim is to identify potential athletes for their participation in the 2024 Olympic Games scheduled from 26 July to 11 August in Paris, France.

In his address at the event, Minister Toussaint emphasised that despite the current difficult economic situation mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a concerted effort is required from the public and private sectors to attain the set objectives and goals pertaining to the project. He appealed to the companies that have the means and the capacity to provide support to Mauritian athletes in terms of sponsorship to better help train them so that in return they can bring back Olympic medals and make the country proud.

Following the signature ceremony, the Horizon Paris 2024 organising team presented a new strategy and the way forward for individuals to provide support to the athletes.  The support would be in the form of a donation of Rs 1 000 per year to be effected through an online platform www.horizonparis2024.com and Rs 10 000 for enterprises to become a partner and sponsor in this endeavour.
