The sponsors are: RM Club Mauritius, a Premium Multisport Center which proposes, amongst others, foot indoor, padle, and squash sports activities; Necker Gestion Privée, a management company regulated by the Financial Services Commission and established in Mauritius since 2014; and MuscleTech, an American-based company which specialises in nutrition supplement.
Horizon Paris 2024, is a preparation programme put in place by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Trust Fund for Excellence in Sports (TFES). The aim is to identify potential athletes for their participation in the 2024 Olympic Games scheduled from 26 July to 11 August in Paris, France.
In his address at the event, Minister Toussaint emphasised that despite the current difficult economic situation mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a concerted effort is required from the public and private sectors to attain the set objectives and goals pertaining to the project. He appealed to the companies that have the means and the capacity to provide support to Mauritian athletes in terms of sponsorship to better help train them so that in return they can bring back Olympic medals and make the country proud.
About Horizon Paris 2024
The project aims at providing appropriate support, notably to the tune of Rs 1 million per athlete per year, in terms of transport, accommodation and other preparatory needs to potential athletes and will be funded by sponsors.
The Horizon Paris 2024, piloted by a Committee set up under the aegis of the TFES, is chaired by Mr Dominique Filleul, a French retired professional handballer and comprises about twelve representatives from several fields, namely management, marketing and finance as well as representatives of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation and different National Sport Federations.
