Borthwick-Jackson was voted United’s U21 player of the year in 2016 after impressing at left-back under Louis van Gaal.
Aged 18, he made his Manchester United debut on November 7, 2015 – coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League. By the end of that campaign he had made 14 first-team outings – including appearances against Chelsea and Liverpool.
United’s next manager Jose Mourinho had high hopes and put him on loan at Wolves for more game experience but the young defender struggled to make an impact. A subsequent loan spell at Leeds United also saw him battling for game time.

Other MLS and League One clubs are interested in Borthwick-Jackson though many have still to determine budgets as they assess the financial damage caused by corona virus.
United’s list is also expected to include Demetri Mitchell, Ethan Hamilton, George Tanner and Dion McGhee.

Scottish U19 international midfielder Hamilton, 21, was on loan at Bolton Wanderers this season while Tanner, a 20-year-old full-back, has been on loan at Morecambe and Salford City this season.
