There is an interesting parallel between practicing yoga and the world of luxury travel – escapism from the mundane! A number of my friends make a point of scheduling yoga sessions during lunch or after work because they enjoy the “disconnect” yoga provides from their very stressful corporate jobs. It is as if in that quiet moment of solitude and reflection the mind, body and soul is unshackled and set free of the stress, demands and anxieties of corporate drudgery and the daily grind. *

For me personally, travelling and exploring the World was my escapism. I didn’t need yoga meditation or mindfulness activities because on our travels I was right there living in the present, cherishing the fine detail, taste colour and experience. I could see, smell and touch it all in high definition with surround sound – savouring each and every moment not wanting it to end……ever!

I am working hard on changing that mindset. I no longer live to travel but rather, I travel to live because exploring new places and cultures gives me cause to be grateful. So instead of ESCAPING I am now looking forward to EMBRACING new opportunities, challenges, adventures and experiences both in my journey in life and through the Earth…
