These objectives, he emphasised, are in line with Government’s determination to support such holistic initiatives driven by the NPCC. On this score, he underlined the importance to better equip the human resource and inculcate, in them, the need to becoming more productive, innovative and quality-oriented. 

The Permanent Secretary urged greater participation from Small and Medium Enterprises and added that the latter should come forward and share their latest developments. The NPQC will enable enterprises to focus on medium and long term goals as well as to recognise the need to adopt better standards and quality initiatives hence contributing to an increase in the overall productivity level of the economy.

For his part, Ambassador Kato underscored that the NPCC, through the NPQC, is putting in tremendous efforts to increase growth, productivity and leverage the quality of products as well as services. Such initiatives, he said, will further encourage public and private bodies to demonstrate continuous improvement in their daily operations.

He also pointed out that the NPQC and the International Convention for Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) will help strengthen bilateral ties between Japan and Mauritius adding that the latter has growing expectations from Japan with regards to trade investment and blue economy. He thus reiterated that Japan will continue providing technical assistance in order to support the African continent’s potentials to better harness innovation and technology.

Mr Balgobin underlined that the NPQC aims at encouraging local organisations to share their best operational practices, processes, systems and initiatives and learn from the experiences of others. It also provides an opportunity for the teams to share their achievements related to managing productivity and quality improvements at their workplace, he added.

NPQC and ICQCC 2019

The NCQP platform enables quality and productivity practitioners from public and private organisations to showcase their value creation projects in the fields of productivity and quality and eventually compete in three different categories namely Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.

 A final selection among the winners of the Gold Award in the different category will be held on the 31^st May and the best teams will eventually have the opportunity to present their projects to a panel of international judges at the ICQCC which will be held in Tokyo from 23^rd to 26^th September 2019. The prime objective of the ICQCC hosted by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers is to further develop quality control circle activities by mutually benchmarking global movement and initiatives.
