Activities are focusing on this year’s theme ‘Trusted Smart Products’ and the basic rights of consumers. During the three days, officers of the Consumer Affairs Unit (CAU) of the Ministry will be present at main hypermarkets/ supermarkets across the country to sensitise the public on the theme and the basic Rights of Consumers. Flyers will also be distributed and queries of the public will be answered by the officers. Moreover, talks, presentations and group discussions on the theme will be broadcast on television and radio channels.
The campaign also includes the display of the eight basic Consumer Rights on electronic boards.
About the theme
The chosen theme this year highlights what consumers want and need from a connected world and how important it is to put them at the heart of the development of these digital and smart products and services.
According to Consumers International, there are currently 23.1 billion smart products in the world, three times of the world’s population. Smart technology brings many opportunities for consumers in the way they interact with smart products and services. The theme seeks to shed light on the significant causes for concern such as lack of security and privacy and who to be blamed for the misuse and abuse of these facilities.
