Taking into account the success of the first Champions Boat League (CBL), a novel experiment of Kerala Tourism of bringing together all the snake boat races in the state on a competitive format, Kerala will now be bringing the CBL on the centre stage of tourism promotions from this year.
Dr Thomas Isaac, finance minister of Kerala while presenting the state budget in the assembly today, proposed to bring the CBL into the forefront of tourism promotions both domestically and internationally, considering the attention that the event received this year.
He said the Muziris Heritage Circuit, which is part of the broader Spice Route project, will be commissioned this year. A dozen museums will also be opened in Alleppey as part of heritage conservation. The West Coast Canal project connecting various waterways in the state will be a big boost for tourism, he added.
