Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek turn out for Kick It Out dinner

Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were among the Chelsea stars to attend Kick It Out’s 25th anniversary dinner. 

Brighton’s Chris Hughton and Hope Powell were also in attendance at the event at Stamford Bridge.

Hughton told Kick It Out: ‘I think it will be continue to be important. I will go back many, many years where it was difficult as a black player, with what we experienced on the touchline from the terraces. I think we have come a long way from that.’

The 2018/19 season marks 25 years of Kick It Out campaigning for equality in football

There were around 500 people in attendance including Hazard and Loftus-Cheek’s colleagues Cesar Azpilicueta and Ethan Ampadu. 

The 2018/19 season marks 25 years of Kick It Out campaigning for equality in football. The event showcased the work being done in equality across the game, and was designed to bring the football family together to raise essential funds to continue the fight against discrimination.

The evening’s entertainment came from dance artist, Laura Dajao, and choir Rainbow Singers Across Borders. 

Dajao, 30, overcame multiple sclerosis to continue performing despite the loss of a limb, while Rainbows Across Borders are a voluntary group formed in 2013 to assist lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender asylum seekers who have fled homophobic and transphobic regimes through fear of persecution.

The Kick It Out event showcased the work being done in equality across the game
