Over 1,100 runners raced down Budapest Airport’s runway 13R-31L to take part in the annual Budapest Runway Run. Now in its seventh year – a permanent fixture in many diaries – airlines, airports, and aviation enterprises from all over the world came together for the air transport industry’s annual charity race.

Teams and individual runners included serious competitive airline entries fielded by defending champions Aer Lingus, previous titleholders SWISS and Wizz Air, as well as Qatar Airways, Emirates, LOT Polish Airlines and American Airlines to name just a few. Joining spirited runners from airports across the globe, including Berlin, Birmingham, London Luton and Vienna, were numerous other aviation-related enterprises ranging from manufacturers, banks, ground handlers, foreign embassy representatives, and concessionaires.

Donating 100% of entry fees to the chosen charities – Hungary’s SUHANJ! Foundation and Anthony Nolan – the unique race is generously supported and sponsored by Airbus, Qatar Airways, Mercedes Benz Hungary and KPMG as well as other important partners including SITA, Travelport, Z&Z, Heinemann Duty Free, SSP, Smarteq, Primavera and Budapest Festival and Tourism Center.

Jost Lammers, outgoing CEO of Budapest Airport said: “It’s been an absolute honour to be part of such a rare aviation and sporting event for the last seven years and witness a multitude of runners from our community come together in this unique way.”
