QPR could move into a 45,000 capacity stadium as part of a £426million redevelopment project, according to plans drawn up by Hammersmith & Fulham council.

The report, seen by Sportsmail, reveals four options for the modernisation of the Linford Christie athletics stadium, located close to QPR’s current home Loftus Road.

An option to build a 45,000 capacity stadium costing £425,650,621 is the most expensive option currently in the report. The stadium plans include a roof that could be lowered or raised.

The redevelopment plan also includes a new athletics track and stand next to the stadium, hockey facilities, a skate park and other sports and leisure facilities on the 6.47-hectare site.

Council officials are understood to favour this option as it would generate a figure of around £41m for the council in 10 years, according to the report.

The multi-use facility would also generate revenues through concerts, trade shows, conference facilities and exhibitions.

The project would be funded by the council in a deal that would see QPR rent the stadium on a long-term lease.

The Linford Christie stadium cost £288,946 to run in 2017-18, with Hammersmith & Fulham council eager to find ways to generate new revenue streams from the site.

The council are set to launch a 12-week public consultation outlining the four options and designs, created by Populous.

The second option is for a 42,000 capacity stadium costing £351,227,530, while the third option is for a 35,000 capacity venue costing £316,983,815. Both of these options would also see QPR take the stadium on a long-term lease.

A fourth option is for a stadium with a capacity of ‘up to 35,000’, without entertainment venues, costing £70,396,681. This option would be ‘funded by the occupier’.

The revelation of the ambitious council plans comes as the relationship between the council and QPR had seemingly soured in recent weeks.

The council had warned QPR that they wouldn’t ‘give away land for free’ and accused QPR of ‘playing property developer in White City’.

It is understood the council will launch a 12-week consultation in March, where designs for the stadia will be revealed.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos, said recently: ‘The Council is shortly to launch a public consultation on the future of the Linford Christie site, which we will encourage our fanbase, local residents and stakeholders to take part in.’
