Arsenal defender Rob Holding has stepped up his recovery from injury by sharing a series of videos of himself working out in the gym.

The defender was ruled out for the rest of the season when he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford in December.

It was a big blow for the Gunners and the 23-year-old, who had been a regular in the side in the first half of the campaign.

The defender performed a number of exercises focused on improving the strength in his knee

And Holding has given fans an update on his rehabilitation with the clearest signs yet that he is well on the road to recovery.

The Englishman took to Instagram on Tuesday to post a number of clips of himself hard at work at the club’s London Colney training ground, writing ‘getting that strength back’.

The exercises included performing squats with weights on his shoulders and bouncing on a small trampoline, all centred around rebuilding the the strength in the injured knee.

Despite the injury, Arsenal are reportedly preparing to offer Holding a new and improved contract.  

The Englishman’s current deal runs until the summer of 2023 but he can expect an increase on his £25,000-a-week wages with Unai Emery looking to secure his long term future.

Holding’s team-mates will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League.
