Never has the chant ‘Can we play you every week?’ been more relevant.
Huddersfield upset the form book with a late victory over Wolves thanks to Steve Mounie’s injury-time winner.
It moved the cellar dwellers to 14 points for the season, with almost half of those coming from their double over their Black Country opponents. Their last win came at Molineux in November. Old gold is the new black at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The home crowd were in fine voice all night long and Huddersfield paid tribute to their fans at the final whistle after a 1-0 win
Mounie had an excellent chance early on in the second half but he made amends in the dying moments with a vital strike
And while this victory may be eventually be of little significance for the seemingly-doomed hosts, it did put a smile on the face of their noisy supporters, who had not witnessed victory here since Fulham were turned over on Bonfire Night and who were constantly goaded about their likely fate by those who had travelled north from Wolverhampton.
Apparently new money makes old memories fade quickly. It was also a first win and vindication for manager Jan Siewert, who made no fewer than eight changes for the fixture following a timid showing at Newcastle.
While Huddersfield remain 11 points from safety, he has not given up.
‘Let’s do the maths,’ he said. ‘There are 10 games. There is still something possible so we have to keep on working. It won’t be easy but we keep on fighting.’

Siewert had suffered defeat in his first four matches. ‘You won’t believe how much I’ve suffered the last few weeks,’ he said, before suggesting he has not been much fun to be around. ‘I’m lucky my wife is still in Germany.’
Siewert’s men were full value for their victory against a visiting team that appeared fatigued.
Huddersfield had the majority of the chances and prevented their visitors from registering a shot on target.
They were wasteful, but their long-suffering fans were sent into raptures in the first minute of injury time.

Nuno Espirito Santo does not have a big squad and it showed, but he would not use it as an excuse as they missed out on going seventh.
‘I don’t think we were tired,’ he said. ‘It was not one of the best performances. There are no complaints.’
Wolves have an impressive record against the more-established sides but have struggled against the likes of Huddersfield.
And Nuno was at a loss to explain why. ‘If I had that answer!’ he said. ‘It’s hard to explain.’
