Massimiliano Allegri’s mentor expects manager to leave Juventus

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will leave the club at the end of the season, according to the Italian’s mentor Giovanni Galeone.

Allegri’s confidant, former boss of Napoli and Udinese, says the 51-year-old rejected a number of top Premier League clubs in the summer with his sights set on winning the Champions League with the Turin outfit.

However, Allegri now plans to depart, regardless of whether or not his side can turn their last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid around and go all the way in Europe’s premier competition.

‘I already told him a few years ago to go to the Premier League,’ the 78-year-old told Radio Kiss Kiss.

‘I don’t think he can go anywhere else in Italy. Beyond how his adventure goes in the Champions League, I think his adventure at Juve is over.

‘Last year he could’ve gone to Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United or Real Madrid, but he refused because he wanted to win the Champions League with Juventus.’

Galeone then took aim at former Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi, who criticised Allegri following his side’s 2-0 first leg defeat to Atletico.

‘Max must believe in the comeback. If he pulls it off he’ll make those who always criticise him think again,’ he added.

‘Sacchi always talks about this damn (musical) score, but if I have a score of Rachmaninoff and the pianist in a piano bar plays it then it’s one thing. If Pollini plays it, it’s something else.

‘You can’t criticise a Coach who has won 10 trophies with Juventus.’
