Manchester United‘s squad arrived at the club’s training base on Saturday with their game faces on ahead of facing arch-rivals Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are looking to avenge for defeat at Anfield back in December – the final game of Jose Mourinho‘s reign – and put a dent in their rivals’ bid for the Premier League title at the same time.

Anthony Martial was part of the arriving group as he looks to return to the side since picking up an injury in the recent Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Although while news of a timely return for Martial is good news for United, the forward was pictured arriving with a parking ticket under his windscreen wiper.

Jesse Lingard also picked up an injury in the defeat to PSG but he was part of the group for training on Saturday and could provide Solskjaer with another boost as he devises his plan.

Alexis Sanchez wore a serious expression as he looks to force his way into the team having spent recent weeks coming off the bench.

Brazilian midfielder Fred has endured a frustrating campaign since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk but he looked in good spirits as he arrived in a pair of sunglasses with the weather bright and sunny in Manchester.

Since losing 3-1 at Anfield in mid-December, United have enjoyed a renaissance under the guidance of Solskjaer.

The interim manager is yet to suffer defeat in domestic competitions as he prepares for his biggest game in charge.

Under Solskjaer’s leadership, winning eight and drawing one of his nine Premier League games in charge.

However, they remain just one point ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal, who sit in fifth and sixth, meaning a result on Sunday is crucial.

Having spent time at United as a player under legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson, the size of importance placed on beating Liverpool is not lost on Solskjaer.

The Norwegian told Sky Sports: ‘It means a lot. I’ve had good memories, bad memories and I’ve been a player and a supporter.

‘As a player it means real focus and concentrate on your performance. When you’re a supporter it’s all emotion, you cannot wait for the game.

‘Now I’m a manager, you’ve got to try and control the temperament of the players, the supporters, everything, which is fantastic.

‘It’s the big game, the one you look forward to every year when the fixture list comes out.’
