The objectives are also to finalise as well as sign agreements between Mauritius and Mozambique and pursue discussions on those which are still outstanding.
In addition, this First Session will enable to promote cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, trade, fisheries, education, research, culture, energy and health. Discussions focusing on matters regarding facilitation of business enterprise in Mozambique will also be at the fore of the meeting.
It is to be recalled that Mauritius and Mozambique had renewed their strong commitment into deepening the existing bilateral and economic ties to further enhance engagement in Africa through the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in January 2019. These MoUs were signed during the State Visit of the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, to Mauritius.
The three MOUs pertained to: Environment – in view of enhancing cooperation regarding environment protection and conservation of natural resources; Tourism – to enable cooperation in promoting both countries as attractive tourism destinations; and, Trade and Investment.
