  • Jose Mourinho will return to beINSPORTS as a pundit for next month’s El Clasico
  • He returns to the channel after covering Arsenal vs Chelsea last month

Jose Mourinho will return to beIN SPORTS as a pundit for next month’s El Clasico.

Barcelona will take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 2, with the Catalan giants currently topping La Liga and leading capital city rivals Real by nine points.

Mourinho is ideally placed to offer insight on both sides having been employed at Barcelona as Bobby Robson’s assistant during the 1996-97 campaign and as the manager of Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

Former England, Newcastle and Ipswich Town boss Robson had a great impact on Mourinho’s career during their time together in Barcelona and before that with Porto.

At Barcelona, Mourinho helped Robson’s side win the Copa Del Rey – famously at the Santiago Bernabeu – as well as the Spanish Super Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

The 55-year-old also enjoyed success with Los Blancos, helping to break the Catalans’ dominance in La Liga, and he is seen as a hero by many in the Spanish capital.

During the 2011-12 season, Mourinho’s side broke the LaLiga record for most points gained in a single season and ended Barcelona’s run of 55 home games undefeated, returning the Spanish top flight crown to the capital for the first time in four years.

He also defeated Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final in 2011 but suffered defeat to his fierce rivals in the semi-finals of the Champions League that same year.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off twice within the space of a week at the turn of the month, as the two giants of Spanish football will also play the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday February 27 – also at the Bernabeu.

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Mourinho made his first public appearance after his sacking by Manchester United last month as a pundit for the beINSPORTS, covering Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in December following a 3-1 defeat to top flight leaders Liverpool.

His replacement, interim coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has transformed the fortunes of the Red Devils, losing just once in 13 matches and winning the other 12.
