Dan Evans sails into Delray Beach quarter-finals after comfortable win

Dan Evans followed up his victory over defending champion Frances Tiafoe by beating Lloyd Harris for the loss of only two games to reach the quarter-finals of the Delray Beach Open.

The 28-year-old has had a strong start to the season as he continues to work his way back towards the top 100 less than a year after returning from a one-year ban for cocaine use.

Evans edged a tight contest against American Tiafoe in round one on Tuesday but was utterly dominant in a 6-0 6-2 win over South African Harris.

He will face sixth seed, Italian Andreas Seppi, for a place in the last four of the competition 

Cameron Norrie was unable to match Evans after losing to Spain’s Jaume Munar in an epic second-round clash at the Rio Open.

With all but one of the seeds having lost in the opening round, this was a big opportunity for both men to make a deep run at a tournament offering significant points.

Norrie recovered from a set down and then 2-5 in the final set to force a deciding tie-break but was edged out 7-6 (6) 5-7 7-6 (4) after three hours and 19 minutes.
