Marcus Rashford is reportedly ready to sign a lucrative new six-year deal at Manchester United

The England international endured some difficult moments under Jose Mourinho but has been a hugely important player for United since the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker boss. 

According to The Mirror, there has been a breakthrough in negotiations and Rashford is prepared to sign a new contract running until the summer of 2025, which would see him earn around £200,000-a-week.

Rashford’s current contract runs until 2020, although there is an option for a further year. 

The report indicates that Rashford had doubts over his future at Old Trafford while Mourinho was in charge, but the 21-year-old is now much happier.

Premier League: 22 games, nine goals, seven assists

Champions League: Seven games, one goal

FA Cup: Three games, one assist

Total: 32 games, ten goals, eight assists 

Rashford has frequently been deployed up front by Solskjaer and has scored eight goals in his last 15 games.

During his United career so far, Rashford has won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.  

United are eager to tie David De Gea to a new contract, but the goalkeeper isn’t yet ready to commit his long-term future to the club.

Solskjaer’s side, who are in fourth place in the Premier League table, host Liverpool on Sunday in an intriguing fixture.
