Mauritian athletes bring five gold medals on fifth day of Athletics

GIS – 27 July, 2019: Mauritius won five gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals for the finals of Athletics in various categories , yesterday, at the Germain Commarmond Stadium in Bambous. 

The Mauritian team clinched victory in 800m Adapted Sports for both men and women categories. Rabaye Denovan received the goal medal on the men’s side while Ashley Telvave won gold for the women’s team.

The other performances of day were recorded as follows: 

·         1500 M Wheelchair, Cedric Ravet won the gold medal for Mauritius in the men’s category and Alphonse Noemi brought victory to Mauritius in the women’s category by defeating Ramiandriosa Mbolatiana from Madagascar. 

 

·         Long Jump Men, the athletes namely Jonathan Drack, Adel Cupidon, and Nadal Thierry, bagged the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively for Mauritius.

 

·         4 x 400 M Relay, Madagascar won the gold medals for both men and women’s category while Mauritius seized the silver medals and Reunion  Island won the bronze.

 

·         High Jump Women, Natasha Chetty (Seychelles) bagged the gold medal while athletes of Reunion Island won both the silver and bronze medals.

 

·         5000 M Men, Iven Moise (Seychelles) sealed the victory by winning gold, Tahinjanahary Richard Tsima (Madagascar) won the silver medal while Mohammad Dookun received the bronze medal for Mauritius.

 

·         Pole Vault Women, Reunion Island seized the first position by earning the gold medal whilst Mauritius secured the silver medal.
