Republic of Mauritius- Mauritius and Austria to reinforce existing bilateral relations

Discussions focused on the existing well-established relationship between Austria and Mauritius. The Republic of Austria has also expressed interest to reinforce further ties between the two countries particularly in the fields of investment and tourism.

In a statement following the courtesy visit, Ambassador Dr Johann Brieger, lauded Mauritius for its remarkable performance in the Indian Ocean Island Games currently being held in Mauritius. He further spoke of the cooperation that exist between the two counties with regards the tourism industry highlighting that substantive talk has been engaged with the Prime Minister to boost further the sector given that couple of years back Vienna has started operating direct flights to Mauritius and since tourists arrivals from Austria has almost doubled.

Dr Johann Brieger also pointed out that with the diversification of the Mauritian economy, the Economic Development Board of Mauritius will lead a delegation to Vienna to showcase potential business ventures in Mauritius whereby Vienna investors will have a platform to take cognizance and tap the investment possibilities in various spheres in the Mauritian economy.
