In a statement after the meeting, Secretary-General Nokwe said discussions with the Prime Minister focused on the strengthening of the ongoing relationship and partnership between IORA and Mauritius. She also took the opportunity to commend the Prime Minister for championing the Chagossian cause and for achieving such great strides in that area.
Dr Nokwe further informed that the Troika, established by the Council of Ministers and consisting of the Chair, the Vice-Chair and the previous Chair, will pay a visit to Mauritius so as to take stock of the country’s contribution to the IORA as well as to meet the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade to apprise them of IORA advances.
She also expressed the appreciation of the IORA, which is headquartered in Mauritius since 1997 and currently has 22 member states and nine dialogue partners, for the contribution of Mauritius throughout the years.
